A Tiny Day in the Jackson Hole Backcountry

I really love tilt shift photography and the look that it gives you.  I could watch good TiltShift photography all day long.  When I saw The Social network I thought the Henley Sequence was amazing.  I understand using Tiltshift came out of necessity rather than a conscious decision but it really worked and it was pulled off.

Here is a nice video of a Day in Jackson Hole.  There are some really cool shots in this video and looks like there was some sort of budget since it looks like there are some really nice helicopter shots in this video.

Here are some iPhone apps for faking Tiltshift.  I've used Tiltshift Generator and it is worth every cent, its a great app.

Papercuts video

Here is a video some friends and I worked on for Papercuts.  I added the fog elements that are chasing him through out the video.  I had some really nice shots in here but Sub Pop didn't like them and went with another shot I did that I didn't think was as good.  Oh well that happens more often than not.  I had about a week to do about 8 shots for this video, would have liked more time since I did it in my free time after work.  I am actually in it for about 2 seconds at the :43 mark with my grenades hoodie on talking to the director Andreas Trolf.  The video aired on MTV2 and my old roommate said I'm a sell out.

Director: Andreas Trolf

Editor: Jim Dirschberger.

Launch NukeX from MacOS Terminal

I decided to write this simple and quick tutorial on how to Launch NukeX from the terminal since it took me a while to figure it out.  I am not very good with command-lines which is why it took my some time to figure this out. hopefully this will save you a lot of time.

Open terminal and type: sudo nano /etc/profile

(Might ask for a password)

After you type the above, a new screen will pop up that looks like this

Under # System-wide... is where I put my alias, Here is what I typed:

alias nukex="/Applications/Nuke6.0v7-32/Nuke6.0v7.app/Nuke6.0v7 --nukex"

And your terminal should look like this.

On this screen you can add as many alias as you like just change the version(Nuke6.0v6 or Nuke6.1v1).  I had one with no --nukex just to launch regular Nuke and I also have a few others for different versions of Nuke that I have on my computer.  Just remember to change the name of the alias for each version you add.

This is a per machine bases so if you are on a network this will NOT follow your profile.  Each time you move and log on to a new machine you will have to redo this.

Hit Control and X to quit then hit Y to save and enter.  Close the Terminal and reopen it and type it nukex (or what ever you put as the alias) and NukeX should launch.

Here is an article about VFX wages.  Inside this article is a link of a spread sheet with different company and wages for different jobs.  I highly recommend looking at this if especially if you plan on getting a new job any time soon.
